Case Studies: Crawlspace Supports and Encapsulation in Asheboro, NC

Monday, February 4th, 2013 by Jackie Hoffman

Challenge

The NcNeil's home in Asheboro, NC had a crawlspace with some moisture issues which caused the insulation to fall and the floor joists to rot. This then caused the kitchen floor to sink/sag and some cracking in the upstairs walls.

Solution

Tar Heel Basement Systems installed (3) SmartJack Crawlspace Stabilizers to lift the sinking kitchen floor and prevent continual cracking in the upstairs walls. Additionally, the crew installed (6) new floor joists to replace the rotten one and a (10) ft. steel girder beam for additional support. Lastly, the Tar Heel Basement Systems crawlspace crew completed the encapsulation system by sealing the floor, walls and piers with our patented CleanSpace vapor barrier, installing SilverGlo Crawlspace Insulation on the walls, and connected a sump systems and SaniDry CX Dehumidifier.

The newly repaired crawlspace is now structural sound, insulated, rodent and insect free and dry.
