Tar Heel Employees Bring Christmas Cheer to Forsyth County Children

Monday, December 15th, 2014

This past weekend eight Tar Heel Basement Systems employees volunteered their time to spend the day helping bring holiday Joy to children in need. The Salvation Army and the Jaycees of Winston Salem have teamed up to host the Christmas Cheer Project which provides Christmas gifts for 60 local underprivileged children.

The money for each child to spend shopping is raised throughout the year from events that the Jaycees of Winston Salem put together. Their goal is for each child to be able to spend $150 on gifts. There is no need for volunteers to spend any money on the day of the event, just spend time with the child they are assigned to.

That is where our employees offered a helping hand. The Christmas Cheer Project was in need of many more volunteers to assist the children with their shopping. It was important for the volunteers to keep the children’s wish list within the $150 budget and focus on getting the needed items before the wanted items. Tar Heel Basement Systems had great representation at the event on Saturday, with 9 of our employees signed up to be paired with a child.

We had volunteers from every department in our company; Office, Marketing, Sales, Production & Service. Some of our employees even brought along their family to experience the Joy of giving back. The event was a huge success and all of the Tar Heel team members said it was a truly fulfilling experience. We hope to participate next year and have even more of our team members helping out!
