December 5th, 2014 - Tar Heel Basement Systems is excited to announce we have chosen the Children's Council of Watauga County and Jaycees of Winston Salem as our "Pay It Forward" organizations for December. Our employees will volunteer their time and money to help dozens of underprivileged children experience the joy of the holidays!
November 21st, 2014 - The 2014 Business North Carolina Small Business of the Year finalists are recognized for their community involvement, general growth, innovation and employee benefits. Tar Heel Basement Systems has been named one of 4 companies in the state to excel in all of these areas.
October 31st, 2014 - In September, Tar Heel Basement Systems set out to raise money for ALS treatment and research, and they did just that. Over fifty ice buckets and $1413 later, THBS reached their goal and is thrilled to be donating the money to a cause that will use it to help those afflicted by the degenerative disease.
September 12th, 2014 - Every year the Triad Business Journal spotlights the regions fastest growing private companies with their "Fast 50" Award Program. Accounting partner, Smith Leonard PLLC, acquired financial documentation from these Triad based companies and provided the 2014 rankings. Tar Heel Basement Systems was named for the 2nd year in a row as one of the "Fast 50."
August 25th, 2014 - Our goal at Tar Heel Basement Systems is to not only collect as much money for the ALS organization as possible, but to also help spread awareness of this fatal disease. Many people have heard of Lou Gerhig's disease, but most do not know what it actually is, which is why each of our employees will be stating a fact or statistic about ALS before getting dumped with a bucket of ice water.
July 31st, 2014 - This Back-to-School Season, Tar Heel Basement Systems is proud to announce its involvement in three different charity drives to supply local teachers and students with the tools they need to succeed this year. An unfortunate number of teachers and students go without the necessary supplies each year and can now look to the community for help. Our school supply and clothing drives will be held at both offices; 2910 Griffith Rd. in Winston-Salem and 206 Southgate Dr. in Boone.
July 2nd, 2014 - The 2013 Safety Award Ceremony for Northwest N.C. was held on June 27th at the Cross Creek County Club in Mt. Airy, NC. Tar Heel Basement Systems, accompanied by dozens of other local organizations, was honored at the luncheon for outstanding safety and health efforts that resulted in a significant reduction of injuries and illnesses, and the promotion of safer working conditions in 2013.
June 18th, 2014 - With schools out and families on vacation, it is often difficult to collect enough blood to meet patient needs during the summer months. Tar Heel Basement Systems has chosen to take the American Red Cross' "100 Days of Summer Sponsor Challenge" and is hosting a blood drive to give hope to patients in need. The drive will be held at Tar Heel Basement Systems facility (2910 Griffith Rd, Winston Salem, NC 27103) on Monday, June 30th from 10:00-2:30.
June 16th, 2014 - Real estate agents need to be very proactive when they list a home with a dirt floor, vented crawlspace, because these type crawlspaces can be full of home value decreasing problems. The marketplace today offers good solutions for fixing these crawlspace problems, but with all services, there are "cut rate" solutions and "value" solutions.
May 29th, 2014 - Many people use their air conditioning systems to live more comfortably during hot, humid summer days, and, therefore do not concern themselves with higher relative humidity in their homes. But what they don't realize is that they are paying an energy penalty to cool that humid air compared to cooling drier air.

May 5th, 2014 - In recognition of the World Health Organization's "Hand Hygiene Day 2014," Tar Heel Basement Systems has spent the morning educating its employees about the importance of clean hands to prevent the spread of illness and infections. Additionally, all members of the Tar Heel team were given individual hand sanitizers to keep on their person and use when soap and water are not readily available.
May 2nd, 2014 - Tar Heel Basement Systems continues to honor their "Pay It Forward" Initiative by partnering with the Watauga Humane Society in Boone, NC. In addition to taking on the role as the tournament sponsor for the 3rd annual Watauga Humane Society Golf Tournament at the Blowing Rock Country Club on May 16th, Tar Heel Basement Systems is hosting a pet food drive May 5-9.
February 24th, 2014 - Tar Heel Basement Systems is honored to be recognized as one of the United States Chamber of Commerce's top 100 small businesses of the year. As a Blue Ribbon winner, Tar Heel is also eligible for the Community Excellence Award, which aims to recognize the company that goes above and beyond to be an active leader and participant in their local community.
February 14th, 2014 - Tar Heel Basement Systems will host a "Flourish in February" Food Drive during the last two weeks of February. With the focus on promoting healthy food choices, Tar Heel Basement Systems is asking all participants to donate healthful foods for those with limited financial resources to supplement their restricted choices with healthy alternatives.
January 21st, 2014 - This month the SBC is holding a workshop at Chetola Resort in Blowing Rock, NC to discuss "Disaster Preparedness for Small Businesses". The goal of the workshop is to inform small business owners how they can be proactive in preparing for an emergency, as the High Country is prone to inclement weather. An expert panel will be present to give small business owners first-hand knowledge on how to help protect their business and/or home from natural disasters.
