Tar Heel Home Tip: Mold Prevention Science

Friday, October 18th, 2013

You learned in the Tar Heel Technical Paper that there are two types of mold- visible and invisible. Now the question is, what do you do about the mold once it’s there?

Rather than clean your mold problem with harsh chemicals, you could use a very labor intensive and expensive approach- replace the moldy building materials. Not to mention the fact that the mold will come back on the new material if the moisture problem that caused the mold isn’t remedied to begin with. Preventing mold is the logical answer. The remedy is making the environment dry, which prevents mold from growing in the first place.

Tar Heel Basement Systems specializes in keeping spaces dry (particularly basements and crawl spaces), which in turn keeps mold from growing in your home. To learn the health facts mold and dust mites, click here.
