Tar Heel Basement Systems Nominated for 2013 Work-Life Legacy Military Award

Awarded on Wednesday, February 27th, 2013

Tar Heel Basement Systems, leading experts in basement waterproofing, crawlspace repair, radon mitigation and foundation repair, was nominated for the 2013 Work-Life Legacy Military Award. This award is given by the Families and Work Institute, honoring organizations for their efforts in hiring and supporting military men and women as they and their families transition to civilian life.

Tar Heel Basement Systems is a veteran owned small business and makes every effort to employ and support the courageous men and women that have fought for our country. Owner, Pete Burgess, is a NAVY Veteran and understands the struggles that come with returning home and making their way back into the civilian workplace.

Recently, Tar Heel Basement Systems set up a booth at the Hiring Heroes Career Showcase and Job Fair at the Boone National Guard Armory which was open to the public, but allotted early admission to Veterans who were seeking employment. Among the crowd was an ARMY Veteran that served 2 tours in Afghanistan and is now a member of the Tar Heel Basement Systems family. He has shown tremendous success within the company and has potential to become a Foreman.

Additionally, Tar Heel Basement Systems makes an effort to offer a Veteran discount to those who have served or their immediate family. The motto is that “every little bit helps” and Tar Heel Basement Systems is happy to give back!

Pete and the rest of the company are honored to receive this nomination and will continue to support service men and women in every way that they can.
