Case Studies: Winston Salem, NC – Sinking Concrete Slab Fixed with PolyRenewal

Wednesday, June 17th, 2015

The slab driveway of this suburban Winston Salem, NC home had settled over (3) three inches at the garage entryway while the side driveway settled (1) once inch causing the area to look and feel extremely uneven. The homeowners wanted to have this issue corrected by a company that would permanently reverse the settlement, have minimal disruption to the rest of the driveway area, and stay within their financial budget.

System Design Specialist, Rick Brown, completed a thorough inspection of the uneven slab driveway and designed a plan with the homeowners that met all of their expectations.

The PolyRenewal team began by lifting the settled area in front of the driveway area and around the edge of the home. Small penny sized holes were drilled five feet apart to inject the high-density, waterproof polyurethane foam. The poly-foam is slowly injected under the settled slab and expands to lift the slab back to the appropriate height. The crew also lifted the side driveway back to the previous height making the entire slab area level again. The drill holes were then grouted and sealed. Unlike traditional concrete lifting options, PolyRenewal is so lightweight, the cure time is 15 minutes. The homeowners were excited to have their slab raised back to normal and be able to drive on it only minutes after the lift!
