The homeowner had to rip up the carpet and wood paneling after it became ruined by intruding water.
A small interior trench was created around the perimeter of the basement. The trench will house the BasementGutter System.
The BasementGutter System is then placed in the trench, sitting on top of the home's footing.
Once the system has been tested and works properly, a fresh layer of concrete allows the system to remain discrete.
The homeowner of this Lexington, NC home would have to pump water out of her basement following a heavy rain storm. Having this problem for years, the carpet and wall paneling had to be ripped out before mold began to grow. Hoping to eradicate the moisture problem, the homeowner had exterior waterproofing completed in early 2016. Unfortunately, water still found a way in. The homeowner was desperate to find a permanent solution so her belongings would stop becoming ruined.
System Design Specialist, Ryan Arnett, completed a thorough inspection and designed a permanent solution with the homeowner that would met her goals. The BasementGutter Drainage System paired with the SafeDri triple sump pump will keep this Lexington, NC basement dry permanently.
The team began the installation process by creating a trench along the interior perimeter and drilling weep holes along the bottom of the basement wall. The weep holes will allow intruding moisture to flow directly into the trench and remove hydrostatic pressure from the entire wall. The BasementGutter Drainage System is then placed in the trench, sitting on top of the footing to prevent clogging from dirt and sediment over time.
Connecting to the BasementGutter Drainage System, the SafeDri sump pump is installed. Once water is collected through the drainage system, it will then be released into the sump basin. Two Zoeller pumps work collectively to pump water out of the basement and away from the home through a discharge line. The team installed a third pump, the SafeDri Battery Backup to make sure the basement will stay dry in the event of a power outage.
After both systems have passed inspection and work properly, a fresh layer of concrete is placed on top of the BasementGutter System and around the SafeDri triple sump pump, creating a discrete system that can be serviced at any time.
The homeowner now has a permanently dry basement, no longer worrying every time rain is projected in the forecast!
