Basement Contractor Provides Christmas Presents for 50 Families in Winston Salem

Tar Heel Basement Systems, Northwest North Carolina’s “All Things Basements” contractor will be the “guardian angel” for 50 children this holiday season. As part of the company’s Pay It Forward Initiative, the THBS team has erected their 2016 ANGEL TREE and partnered with the Potter’s House FRC of Winston Salem to provide holiday presents to 50 children in need.

The Potter’s House FRC, founded by Reverend Johnny and Pansy Young, has been helping families and individuals in need for more than 20 years. Their mission is to help heal our community by inspiring action, empowering families and supporting communities. They’re driven by a firm belief in the power of humanity and will do what it takes to make an impact. Some of their initiatives include a soup kitchen, clothing and food drives, after-school programs, homeless outreach and holiday gift drives.

This year, Pansy provided THBS with the names, ages and wishlist items of 50 children in the Winston Salem community. These children belong to families that are unable to provide clothing, food and/or toys at Christmas. All recipients go through an application process in order to receive assistance during the holiday season. In previous years, outside organizations have donated gifts to the Potter’s House, but unfortunately, these organizations do not provide for children 12 years or older. While the Angel Tree at Tar Heel Basement Systems consists of children of all ages, it is loaded with children from the most vulnerable generation- the teenagers.

The employees at THBS have selected their angels and have begun placing presents below the tree! The presents will be wrapped and dropped off at the Potter’s House in Winston-Salem on Monday, December 19th. Marketing Director Jackie Hoffman states, “our employees at THBS have so much passion for not only the work we do in our customer’s home but also for making a positive impact on someone’s life. Our team’s passion and actions create ripples in our community, and we believe that these ripples can change the world.”
