Home Repair Contractor Gives Back to Employees & Community at Wellness Fair & Blood Drive

In addition to the blood drive, THBS launched its annual health & wellness day for its employees. "We believe that employees are our most valuable asset, and when we say that, it is more than just words to us. We strive to bring out the best in our employees and help them see a better version of themselves. This wellness day is just one way that we can help accomplish that."

Winston-Salem, NC - June 27th, 2017

Tar Heel Basement Systems was recently recognized as one of the Triad’s Best Places to Work, which was only further supported by their recent Wellness Fair & Blood Drive. In an effort to give back to the community and its employees, THBS hosted a blood drive at their facility for the Community Blood Center of the Carolinas and a full day of health and wellness training for its employees.

The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas is an independent, locally-managed, non-profit community blood center that is the primary blood supplier to the region’s patients and hospitals. Unlike organizations such as the Red Cross that donate nationwide, CBCC’s blood donations go solely to the local communities in NC and SC. They are proud to announce our team donated more than 30 units of blood to CBCC last week, surpassing the donation goal and possibly helping to save 100 lives.

In addition to the blood drive, THBS launched its annual health & wellness day for its employees. This is a paid training day for the employees consisting of financial wellness seminars, nutrition seminars and a health fair with a dozen incredible vendors. Vendors offered advice and options to help improve the employee’s lives in various ways. They included American Lung Association, Clearly Essential, LA Fitness, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Allergy Partners of the Piedmont, LegalShield, Liberty Mutual, Market Basket Nutrition, MassMutual, Wake Health, BB&T, American Heart Association & Juice Plus.

Manager Jackie Hoffman stated, “We believe that employees are our most valuable asset, and when we say that, it is more than just words to us. We strive to bring out the best in our employees and help them see a better version of themselves. This wellness day is just one way that we can help accomplish that.”

Tar Heel Basement Systems has been giving back to different local nonprofit organizations every month for the last 4 years. This is the 4th blood drive that they have hosted and first wellness fair. It was a huge success and hope it only continues to grow each year!
