The North Carolina Department of Labor launched its Safety Award Program in 1946, which extends to all N.C. employers. Each year more than 2500 awards are presented during safety banquets across North Carolina throughout the spring.

Tar Heel Basement Systems’ Owner, Pete Burgess, was presented the NCDOL Safety Achievement Certificate by North Carolina’s Commissioner of Labor, Cherie Berry. According to the Safety and Health Council of North Carolina, “Safe work saves money. And it’s proven that a healthy, safe working environment enhances employee morale and increases productivity.” Burgess was in complete agreement with this statement. In fact, he requires his managers to incorporate safety training in the agenda of weekly meetings with their employees. Burgess was also thrilled to receive the NCDOL Safety Award because our particular industry group (construction) ranks very high up on safety risk ladder.

All North Carolina firms, private or public, can apply for N.C. Department of Labor Safety Award. In order to qualify for the annual safety award a company simply must meet the following requirements:

(a) It must have had no fatalities at the site during the calendar year for which the award is given.

(b) It must have maintained either a perfect safety record for that year or an incident rate at least 50% below the average for its particular industry group.

Tar Heel Basement Systems is honored to receive this recognition and thrilled to be able to offer its employees a safe and healthy workplace. Tar Heel Basement Systems safely employees more than 50 people and prides itself on being the most reliable basement, crawl space, and foundation repair contractor in Northwest N.C. and Southwest VA.
