I am Pete Burgess, and along with my beautiful wife Nancy, we are the founders and former owners of Tar Heel Basement Systems. We have two wonderful daughters, Hillary and Kari; and two amazing granddaughters, Clare and Irene. I am originally from Illinois, graduated from the University of North Carolina where I met Nancy, got my MBA from Northwestern University, was a commissioned officer in the Navy, and am a licensed general contractor in North Carolina and Virginia.
After years in the business world in Chicago, I tried to retire and find solitude with Nancy in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Upon building our dream home and encapsulating the crawlspace, I became a firm believer in the CrawlSeal™ product. My retirement was short lived as we grew a “one man operation” (me!) into a multi-service operation with nearly 100 employees, necessitating a relocation of the business to Winston Salem, North Carolina from Boone, North Carolina.
While it is hard work owning a growing business, I love what our company is about. We are truly a need service and there is no greater satisfaction than solving a homeowners’ basement, crawlspace or foundation issues!
Hi, I’m Jeff!
I recently moved to Winston Salem, NC from Denver, Colorado to join the Tar Heel team. I was previously Sales Manager at a waterproofing and foundation repair company out of Colorado and helped that company more than triple their size in three years. Prior, I served as Regional Sales Manager for Jani-King and Sales Consultant for Lennar, both international corporations.
I spent a few years playing baseball in the Minor Leagues, which gave me a competitive edge over my competition in all areas of my life. Additionally, it awarded me the necessary leadership skills to lead a team of Certified Field Inspectors and help as many customers as possible. I’m ecstatic to be offered the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to lead such an exceptional sales team.
When I am not working, I enjoy being outdoors, spending time with the family and working out.
Hi there; I’m Chelsea!
I grew up in North Carolina, but originally have northern roots, being that I was born in New Jersey. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in English & Professional Writing from Appalachian State University. It was there that I fell in love with the town of Boone, and was also lucky enough to find my home at this company in November of 2011. In Summer of 2014, I relocated to the Triad to be closer to the team and our main office. I love nothing more than being a part of the Tar Heel family and am very passionate about helping homeowners in need.
In my spare time, I enjoy snuggling up with a good book and my Australian Shepard/Border Collie mix, Sadie.
I look forward to speaking with you soon!
Hello. My name is Anthony and I am Operations Manager at Tar Heel Basement Systems. I have worked with this great company for a decade now. I began as a foreman, working with a great team installing several types of projects.
I grew up in Wilkes County, NC and moved to Boone shortly after high school. I now live in Ronda, NC closer to our Winston-Salem office. I have a wonderful wife and two children that keep me busy when I am not at work. I also love sports and am constantly cheering for my favorite team, Duke (even though I work at TAR HEEL Basement Systems).
My main goal is to make sure each one of our customers is 100% satisfied with our work.
Hi, I’m Rick!
I grew up in Orlando, Florida but now live in wonderful town Winston-Salem, NC. Before joining this team, I gained over 15 years of experience in residential home construction, performing remodels and new builds. I also have a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of North Florida. I started my career here as a Certified Field Inspector and thanks to a company that embraces meritocracy and drives growth, I was able to work my way up to Assistant Manager of Sales. I was drawn to Tar Heel because of a common goal: to improve customers homes and keep families safe.
When I’m not working closely with Certified Field Inspectors to find permanent solutions to all of your foundation and waterproofing needs, I love spending time with my wife of over 25 years, Sheila and our daughter, Lindsey. We love to spend time outdoors, travel, garden and attend sporting events together.
I look forward to working towards protecting your greatest asset: your home!
Hi, I’m Bobby!
Over the years I have held many roles prior to becoming the Production Manager, including Service Technician, Crew Foreman and Certified Field Inspector. Before joining Tar Heel Basement Systems, I built houses with my dad’s construction company and I worked in the disaster restoration industry so I am very knowledgeable on home repairs. I know firsthand just how important it is to waterproof your home. I was first attracted to Tar Heel because they stand behind what they do and put quality first.
My beautiful wife Melissa and I are the proud parents of 5 incredible kids; Jalen, Peyton, Isaiah, Wesley and Felicity. When I am not working I enjoy being outdoors with my family- playing golf, frisbee golf, and going to my kids’ sporting events.
I look forward to meeting you and helping keep your home as dry and healthy as possible!
Hi, I’m Ronnie!
I was born in Boone, NC, but grew up just outside of Raleigh in Henderson, NC. I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill and made my way back up the mountain in 1995 to receive my teaching certification from ASU. Prior to joining the Tar Heel team, I gained extensive knowledge of this industry, as I spent 10 years under homes working for Terminix. So many things attracted to me Tar Heel, including the opportunity to help homeowners, work beside my closest friends, and help others grow all while learning new things every day.
Since starting my journey here I have made great strides. I began in sales as a Certified Field Inspector, designing systems for our customers. I then moved over to our service department starting out as a Service Technician. In 2014 my teammates awarded me with the Goodwill Ambassador Award, and in 2015 I was promoted from Service Technician to Service Supervisor and awarded the 2015 Service Technician of the Year Award. Since 2017, I have been leading a team of amazing service technicians and service coordinators as Service Manager.
When I am not helping customers improve their home, I am at home with my wife and animals. I have been married to my beautiful wife, Jessica, for about 20 years and we care for nearly 15 rescue pets on our farm; we have dogs, cats, chickens and pygmy goats. I also enjoy reading and watching movies, and love all eras of history.
I enjoy providing our customers with WOW! service and I’m looking forward to meeting with you and solving any concerns you may have!
Hi, I’m Cindy!
Before joining the Tar Heel team, I worked as an Office Manager and Accountant for Salem Glen Development Company and High Point Bowling Center for 12 years. I also owned and managed a private accounting and property management company and worked as an administrator for a real estate agent. I was attracted to Tar Heel Basement Systems because I was informed of the amazing company culture.
I have been married to my wonderful husband, John for over 35 years and we have 2 amazing daughters, Kristina and Sarah. In my spare time, I enjoy watching documentaries and wildlife photography.
I look forward to speaking with you and exceeding your customer service expectations!
Hey, I’m Will!
I look forward to helping our homeowners solve their concerns, enabling them to create a healthier home for them and their loved ones.
Hi, I’m Nate!
I came to Tar Heel with a background in consulting but I was ready for a different career path and I was drawn to the excellent reputation that this company is known for. I also bring with me a Bachelor of Science in General Studies with a concentration in Mass Communications as well as a CPC (Certified Personnel Consultant) certification.
My beautiful wife, Anna and I have a wonderful son as well as a houseful of dogs and chickens. When I’m not working towards providing a healthier home for my customers, I enjoy woodworking, fishing and playing golf.
I look forward to meeting you and finding the best solution to protect your greatest asset: your home!
