Employees Volunteer for Communities In School

Monday, April 30th, 2018

Communities in School is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Wilkesboro, NC, empowering students to stay in school and achieve in life. Communities in School Northwest North Carolina currently provides community support to help reduce the dropout rate for children in Ashe, Alexander & Wilkes Counties. The organization’s largest annual fundraiser for the last 10 years has been hosting a food tent at MerleFest- one of the largest music festivals in North Carolina.

This year, Communities in School Northwest North Carolina was in need of a monetary donation to help with food costs and Tar Heel Basement Systems jumped at the opportunity. In addition to helping pay for the food and supplies, the company’s employees wanted to volunteer their time to work the food tent. Dozens of Tar Heel team members took on shifts over the 4-day festival to cook and serve food to thousands of attendees at the event. Local vendor, SE LOGO WEAR was kind enough to donate 200 shirts to Communities in School Northwest North Carolina for the volunteers to wear. It was truly a group effort to make this fundraiser the most successful one yet.

Tar Heel Basement Systems’ “Pay It Forward” initiative was established in 2013 and has been supporting different local nonprofit organizations every month. The company was excited to be able to give back to such an incredible organization such as Communities in School this month. Both organizations believe in making an impact in this world and the ability to improve lives by the work they do.
