Tar Heel Basement Systems is proud to announce the hire of two new individuals to the sales force, Kent Dunn of Winston-Salem, NC and Garrett Atkinson of Boone. Both individuals are Western North Carolina natives and offer something unique to our team.
Kent Dunn was born and raised in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he received a Bachelors of Architecture Degree. His love for the Triad and being near his family has brought him home to Winston-Salem. He is an experienced Architectural Designer and Construction Project Manager with over twenty-five years of professional experience. He has owned and operated a design and building company responsible for over five million dollars in commercial and residential up-fits, additions, restorations, and renovations.
Kent has an extensive musical background and has been playing professionally for thirty years. He’s opened for Lyle Lovett, Dwight Yokem, Peter Frampton, Al Green, David Allen Coe, Roberta Flack, Jimmy Buffet, Tom Petty, Shooter Jennings, etc. He enjoys playing rhythm guitar, bass, piano, mandolin, banjo, and flute. In fact, in 2001 he designed, built, owned and operated his own music house in Winston-Salem, Rubber Soul Music House.
Garrett Atkinson was born and raised in Boone, North Carolina and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2006. He was a double major and received Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Economics and Management & Society. During his time at UNC, Garrett was a 2-time ACC Wrestling Champion and National Qualifier. He is a local business owner in Boone, as he owns and operates one of the first food trucks on the High Country, The Feastie Boys. In addition to cooking, Garrett has a passion for coaching, puzzles, and keeping a house full of happy dogs.
Garrett began his professional working career as a commercial construction supply salesman, specializing in fasteners, power tools, and personal protective equipment. He has held positions in both commercial and industrial settings as well as residential restoration and renovations. He has gained valuable knowledge in home repairs through his experience with Krause Plumbing Co. and Method Construction in Boone, NC.
