Photo Album: Energy Efficient Crawl Space Transformation in Stokesdale, NC
Open vents and an exposed dirt floor were causing the floor system of this Stokesdale, NC home to become cold during the fall and winter months. After having their HVAC system replaced during the summer and finding excessive moisture throughout the space, the homeowners realized their crawl space problem was not just during a few seasons, but happening all year. Their goal was to create a dry and energy-efficient storage space below their home.
Accomplishing their goals, Tar Heel Basement Systems was able to seal each foundation vent, preventing outside air from taking over the crawl space. The 6mil vapor barrier was replaced with the 20mil CrawlSeal Encapsulation System, separating the home from the exposed dirt below. Keeping the floors from staying comfortable during the winter, X-Grade Crawl Space Insulation panels were installed along the interior foundation walls, allowing for heat to be reflected back into the crawl space. Lastly, preventing mold and mildew from ruining the homeowners personal belongings stored in the space, the self-draining Aprilaire dehumidifier was installed.
