Mountainside Retreat Needed a Lift

Schedule Free Inspection

Homeowner Problem:

A building ought to stay where it is placed, but as with this home, it is not always the case. A homeowner from Blowing Rock, North Carolina had a home on the property of the mountain attraction. They began noticing cracks above the doorframes around the home in addition to cracks in the concrete foundation outside. They were concerned about the integrity of the structure and wanted to prevent the problem from getting worse.

Tar Heel Basement Systems sent one of their Certified Field Inspectors to conduct a free estimate of the property. The CFI noticed that the steep incline of the mountains and the deterioration of the soil over time caused a significant shift in the foundation of the home. Careful planning went into developing a long-term solution for the homeowner. The CFI partnered with a qualified structural engineer to provide the homeowner with a permanent solution to keep their home stabilized.

Tar Heel Basement Systems Solution:

Specially trained installers from Tar Heel installed four Settlestop push piers. The galvanized steel piers transfer the weight of the home to the stable soil below. In this case, the piers were able to lift the home to its previous position. The concrete slab was also lifted and stabilized with our Polyrenewal solution. The crew filled in the cracks in the concrete to complete the repair.

Tar Heel Basement Systems was able to restore the strength of the structure and give the owners a stable getaway home for many years to come.
