Wet Crawl Space Led to Unhealthy Home in Blowing Rock

Schedule Free Inspection

Homeowner Problem:

A homeowner in Blowing Rock, North Carolina was getting musty smells in their family’s mountain home. He suspected the smell was coming from the crawl space, so he decided to look for himself. Greg was horrified to find that he was getting water intrusion in his crawl space. To make matters worse, there were signs of rodent infestation and dangerous mold could be seen growing on the joists. Greg needed help, so he called Tar Heel Basement Systems for an appointment with one of our Certified Field Inspectors (CFI).

CFI Paul Hooker met with the homeowner and thoroughly inspected the crawl space. He built a custom solution that would permanently protect the crawl space and would satisfy the homeowner’s concerns.

Tar Heel Basement Systems Solution:

Our specially trained crew was sent out to remove the damaged installation and install a waterproofing system that will control the seepage and humidity. They put in AquaStop™ Crawl Drain water drainage system that directs water to the SafeDri™ sump pump. They placed a durable liner on the walls and floors to keep water and humidity from passing through and protect against mold and rot. An energy-efficient dehumidifier inside the crawlspace filters out any humidity or mold spores left in the air.

Not only was THBS able to eliminate the health risks, but Greg’s family can also now enjoy the benefits of greater energy savings and peace of mind that their home’s foundation is protected for years to come.
