Allan B. a North Carolina homeowner noticed his Jefferson home was having foundation issues. Finding cracks in his foundation and bowing floors, Allan knew this was no job he could fix himself and needed a professional’s help. After noticing an article in the local newspaper for Tar Heel Basement Systems, Allan decided to call them for a free estimate for repairing his foundation.
Tar Heel sent foundation repair specialist Anthony Cass to inspect the home. Anthony concluded that the home was in deep foundation trouble and needed immediate service. Foreman Josh Watson and his crew got to work right away. They installed the IntelliJack System in the crawl space and helical piers on the outside of the home. Helical piers are steel rods that are implanted into lower levels of soil which are more stable than soil closer to the surface. Over time, the piers can prevent foundation settling and will return the home to its former leveling. IntelliJack crawl space support posts are steel rods with a concrete base that are placed under bowing floors to effectively lift them up and keep them from bowing again. Unlike traditional wooden support beams, IntelliJack posts are manufactured out of steel to ensure no cracking, rotting, warping or shrinking!
While Allan’s foundation was in grave shape, the homeowner was impressed by the experience and professionalism of Josh and the crew from Tar Heel. They worked diligently to repair the foundation and answered all of Allan’s questions along the way. When Allan walks through his house he can now feel safe, knowing that the foundation below him is safe and stable.
Cancer is an epidemic in today’s society, with over 1.5 million people diagnosed every year. Since its discovery in homes in 1985, radon has become a source of lung cancer in individuals who are living in homes with elevated levels of radon. Homeowner Kathy H. found herself calling Tar Heel Basement Systems for a radon test after being referred by a close family friend who had a test conducted by the company.
Radon prevention specialist William Blake performed a radon test and results showed that Kathy’s basement had elevated levels of radon. William recommended the installation of an HP190 radon fan system. A radon fan is a specially-made fan that sucks the radon in and through the use of an attached PVC pipe, exhausts the radioactive gas outside the home. Foreman Scott Hopkins and his crew came in to install the mitigation system in a quick and timely fashion.
After a quick one-day installation, Kathy’s basement is now protected against radon and Kathy’s health is no longer in jeopardy. Radon should never be overlooked. If you have suspicion of radon in your home, don’t hesitate to call the professionals at Tar Heel Basement Systems today!
