I went into this basement project a little nervous, it seemed like a big commitment to put this amount of trust into Tar Heel Basement Systems. We had a long term problem with water ponding in the crawl space underneath our home anytime it rained. We had multiple people come out to try and diagnose the source of the leak, but none of them were 100% certain. Tar Heel Basement Systems blew me away immediately. The inspector, Dave Brereton, came out and within 15 minutes had identified the root cause as well as a plan to fix it. A few weeks later, the crew came out and completed the job in under two days. The difference is unbelievable. From Dave to the install crew, this company knows their stuff and conducts themselves professionally. A great experience, and I encourage anyone with similar problems to give them a chance. Thank you Dave and crew!

I have now been working with John Cotten who was first my Groundworks SALES REP and is.now functioning as my PROJECT MANAGER. He has the second role as a result of the exceptional job he did in the initial role. Needless to say, agreeing to a complete crawlspace encapsulation was not an easy sell. It was a big budget, unplanned project that I resisted doing . But due to the thoroughness of John’s investigation of my issues and complete and detailed plan that addressed every one of my concerns, it was difficult to not move ahead. John knows the business of foundations- the problems and how to resolve them. His communication skills and desire to help his clients save their homes couple to create a dialog that is engaging, informative and even comforting when knowing the end result will be a better home. And after the sale, he is always reachable, responsive and makes me feel he is not only working for Groundworks, but also for me!!

Cannot say enough about the good experience we had with Justin and his crew of Demarte, Quentin and Harry. They were punctual, called before arrival and all were friendly and appeared to be Jgenuinely glad to do the job. Justin explained what they would be doing and answered all questions before starting work. His team was efficient and completed the job much faster than we anticipated. Justin was very diligent in making sure our floors were leveled to his and our satisfaction and we were very pleased to see cracks between the ceiling and wall disappear. Nowadays it is rare to have someone exceed expectations but Justin and his crew were exceptional and we would not hesitate to to give them our highest recommendation. John and CC Hensley

Robert and Steven, James and Brandon all did a very good job with the basement waterproofing. Everything looks so good and they cleaned their scrap too. Can't wait for a damp free basement. We recently had a crawlspace encapsulation by Tarheel Basement of Winston Salem. John Reavis came out to do an inspection. He was professional, and did a thorough inspection of our crawlspace. He answered all our questions and offered solutions without pressure to buy. We knew after meeting with John that this was the company that we wanted to do business with. Crew leader Brian Carey along with Leo and Stephon did a great job making our crawlspace look great. They showed up on time and Brian went over the work details for each day. Eric Townsend also came out afterwards to check the equipment. Everyone with Tarheel Basement was great. We could not be happier with the result and we are so happy we chose this company!

I have worked with many contractors in Wilmington over the years–here's what made this experience remarkable: they showed up every day and worked all day, and they were very friendly and communicative throughout. The date I was given for this back in October was the date they showed up. No delays, and once they started, they saw it through to the end. We had Robert Penny, Service Technician, to inspect our under house dehumidifier (we had TarHeel Basement perform a complete encapsulation several years ago). He was very thorough with his diagnosis and replaced the clogged filter with a new one. Robert was very competent and conscientious with his work – he wanted to make sure we were completely satisfied with his service call before leaving. Robert is the best technician we’ve had from Groundworks for the contracted warranty service we have. Just a GREAT COMPANY for encapsulation and warranty maintenance!

He was absolutely phenomenal, and reaffirms why I choose Tar Heel basement and am able to have peace of mind and put my trust in this company. He was prompt, transparent, and thorough with his inspection, as well as being patient, friendly, and very professional. When they finished, I could hardly believe it was the same crawl space—it looked amazing! The project took about four days, with a long commute each way, yet their dedication never wavered. They even came back to install another door, working quickly and efficiently while delivering top-notch results once again. My husband and I purchased a home only to find out after we closed that was literally falling down around us. After calling several companies and being told it was beyond the scope of what they could handle, we found Tar Heel. If I had only known then what I know now I would have saved myself so much time and stress and called Tar Heel FIRST. Paul, who came out originally, the Structural Engineer Bobbie and Ronnie the Project Manager were able to put a plan together to save our home. They genuinely treated our home like their own. The Foreman Gary Hacker and his Technicians Sam Jarvis and Dalton Brown who came out to do the work (along with Cory and Axel) were professional, kind, and extremely knowledgeable. Tae. S, Edwin. C, and James. T handled my encapsulation, dehumidifier install, and sump pump install and they did an excellent job everything looks clean and well done these men definitely take pride in their work. Tarheel was willing to work with me in order to make things a little more affordable, with me doing some of the work up to the date of my install since I like to DIY to save money. and I’m very happy with the finished result. They are a little bit on the pricier side but with the quality of work and the quality of material they use I think its more then reasonable. There are multiple instances I’ve heard of other contractors / companies that would “provide” a similar service but would do it with cheap material and also do the bare minimum if even that in order to just take your money. You can’t go wrong with Tarheel. Cant recommend them enough. Almost forgot it was also a pleasure to work with Jason, when he came to give me the estimate. He also was the one to make suggestions on things I could do myself in order for me to try and keep the price a little lower and was very helpful throughout the entire process as I had a lot of questions for him.

Worth every penny, very happy from start to finish. We opted for the complete crawl space encapsulation, moisture control, and floor leveling. When the work was done and we discovered that their original plan missed a key leveling issue, they promptly came back out and did the extra work at no charge to us. Our salesman Jay was never pushy and had the patience of an angel. Thank you to the crew including Victor, Brian, Austin, Christian, Malik, Robert and James for doing a fantastic job.

After looking under the house, he provided what was recommended, showing pictures of his findings & explained what the recommendations would do for our home. When install day arrived, Jared, Mike & Shy were great! They were arrived when they said they would & was able to complete the job in one day. We are very satisfied with their work!

The team from Groundworks – Nick Perfitti, Isaiah Brooks, and Hunter Okonsky – came in and got the whole job done in three days! Plus, they were totally professional and courteous as well. We would definitely ask these guys back again and highly recommend that you hire them for your crawlspace waterproofing. The installers did an outstanding job encapsulating our crawlspace, installing a dehumidifier and sump pump. It looks lovely! Ken, Stephen, and Jael were knowledgable, courteous, personable and professional. The job was completed in 2 and a half days. They hauled away the old liners and left the site spick and span. They kept us fully updated on the process. We also appreciated their attention to detail. They supplied us with a photo of a plumbing issue under the house of which we were unaware. Thanks to their help, we can get this taken care of before it gets worse. Thank you Ken, Stephen, and Jael for your careful work.

Wanted to leave a review of my Groundworks crew (Austin, Chris, and Harry). Work performed was done very satisfactorily and was pleased with how they were committed to getting the job done even when prior work performed by a third party company was incomplete. They stayed at the job site until the third party returned to fully complete the previous work. What started out as a postponement of work due to the aforementioned incompleteness, ended in a completion of the project as scheduled!!!! They were polite, friendly and fully explained, both the work to be performed and the potential complications from this structural project. Yes, I would recommend and would use them again for any future structural issues.

This is just in the beginning stages. What I am rating the company on currently is the Certified Field Inspector John Dounoucos. John has been to our home twice. The first time was last week to learn what my concerns were and then quote me on the work that was needed. The first thing I would like to mention is John arrived on time and was very thorough and went over all the processes required. I told John I would be getting a second quote before making any decisions and he was good with that. The one thing that means the most to me is, John was NOT pushy, there was NO hard sell and NO you have to sign now or the price could change. John followed up with a text a few days later and we had just finished with our second quote. The price from the second company was fairly even, but I liked John's approach and the scope of work for this project. Looking forward to seeing how the job goes! I feel confident it will meet the high standards John outlined for us!

It was finished in three days and after inspection, I was informed that it was the “best install that they had seen, and that It appeared they had gone above and beyond”. The foundation crew (Jaun & Alex) and the "poly" crew (Andrew, Cody, Javi & Al) came out to our home and performed the necessary work to fix the problems.
