Why Is My Basement Flooding During Heavy Rains?
Most of the land in West Virginia is composed of sandy silt, which has excellent drainage but is also highly susceptible to erosion. If it has been raining heavily in the area around your home in Colorado, then the ground is probably completely soaked with rainfall. Once the water has penetrated the soil, it will eventually find its way into your basement through any gaps or cracks that may exist in the walls. After that, the water seeps into the basement, where it pools on the ground and soaks anything that is stored there.
