Tar Heel Basement Systems Sponsors Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament

Fishing is at the heart of many coastal areas like Morehead City, and so are friendly competitions that unite communities.

Tar Heel Basement Systems’ Wilmington branch was honored to sponsor the 2024 Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament, held from June 7 to 16.

The Big Rock stands as a premier marlin tournament with an impressive history, drawing elite competitors from across the globe. In recent competitions, anglers representing 22 states, and three international teams have taken part in this intense six-day offshore challenge. Claiming victory at the Big Rock has become a primary goal for many top-tier billfish anglers.

This year’s 66th annual competition, presented by Jarrett Bay Boatworks, set new records. An impressive fleet of 302 boats vied for an unprecedented total purse of $7,562,700. Making sport fishing tournament history, the top three teams each secured prizes exceeding $1.8 million. GAME TIME emerged victorious in this year’s Big Rock Tournament, reeling in a blue marlin weighing 516 pounds.
