Tar Heel Basement Systems Sponsors 25th Annual Wilmington Riverfest

Festivals have a special way of bringing people together, especially when they have become time-honored traditions.

Tar Heel Basement Systems proudly supported the Wilmington Riverfest as a Diamond Elite sponsor. Held the first weekend of October throughout Historic Downtown Wilmington, the event celebrated its 45th anniversary in 2024.

Riverfest, established in February 1979 by local Wilmington residents, began with a simple mission: to highlight the beauty of downtown Wilmington and the Cape Fear River. What started as a modest community gathering has evolved into one of North Carolina’s premier cultural street festivals, earning recognition as one of the state’s 7 Best Fall Festivals.

Today, this free two-day celebration draws over 114,000 visitors from New Hanover County and beyond. The festival features an extensive array of attractions, including craft vendors, food concessions, live entertainment across multiple stages, and a dedicated children’s area. Special events like the Saturday night fireworks display, car show, and pageants add to the festival’s diverse appeal.

While the festival relies on sponsorships and donations from local businesses and organizations, its impact on the community is substantial. The event generates an estimated economic boost of more than $13 million for Historic Downtown Wilmington and surrounding areas, making it not just a cherished cultural tradition but also a significant driver of local commerce.
