Saint Patrick’s Day Cooking with a Twist at the Ronald McDonald House!
A group of our eager, amateur chefs arrived at the Ronald McDonald House of Winston-Salem last Thursday ready to cook an appetizing feast for the families staying at the home.
The team began by purchasing fresh ingredients at the local market before heading to the Ronald McDonald House. Instead of a traditional Irish meal for Saint Patrick’s Day, the team decided to upgrade the standard family-style taco dinner. A meal the families would never forget!
Certified Field Inspectors Tim Sellers and Greg Watson were in charge of salsas and dips. Tim created his delicious and savory corn and black bean salsa. While, Greg received the nickname, “Guacamole Greg” for his outstanding homemade guacamole that won the families over. The meat station was covered by Inspectors Xander Cassatt, Jeremiah Skertich, and Brian Whittington. The seasoned, organic ground beef and chicken were cooked to delicate perfection.
Administrative Assistant Monica Jones ensured everything was running smoothly and completed the finishing touches by serving sour cream, freshly shredded cilantro and lettuce, diced tomatoes, and provided flour and gluten-free tortilla options for the families.
Upon leaving the Ronald McDonald House kitchen, the team was greeted with successful feedback and smiles by many of the residences. Tar Heel Basement Systems is delighted to provide a hearty and delicious meal for the families residing at Ronald McDonald House of Winston-Salem.
Tar Heel Basement Systems will be back in action in the Ronald McDonald House kitchen in May. If you have a fun recipe you’d like for our team to cook, let us know!
