Owner, Pete Burgess, Is Featured in NW Observer’s Annual Guide To Your Home

Each year the Northwest Observer, a weekly community newspaper for northwest Guilford County, publishes a GUIDE to Your Home. This guide is a real estate, building and home improvement resource for not only northwest Guilford County residents but all homeowners.

The 2012-2013 edition of the GUIDE touched on interesting and educational topics related to home ownership. These included, state of the housing market, real estate terms defined, re-purposing, beware of home contractor scams, man caves, and basement moisture hazards.

Editor, Patti Stokes, was in need of some expert advice when it came to issues that may be lurking below the home. Tar Heel Basement Systems’ Owner, Pete Burgess, sat down with Patti to answer all of her questions on the subject for her 2nd annual GUIDE to Your Home.

After all, Tar Heel Basement Systems is the leading expert in basement waterproofing, crawl space repair, foundation repair and radon mitigation.

During the interview, Burgess mentions the causes of moisture, mold, odors, etc. in a home’s basement or crawlspace. He also touches on the “stack effect”, meaning that whatever is in the air below your home will inevitably make its way upstairs to the main levels of your home.

He points out noticeable signs of moisture and preventative measures that homeowners could and should take to eliminate it, such as sealing a crawlspace or waterproofing your basement. He also mentions the importance of a dehumidifier in both settings to condition the air.

The entire article is filled with helpful hints for homeowners with a basement or crawlspace. To read the full article and everything Pete had to say, please visit NW Observer’s Guide to Your Home.
