SECU Family House Enjoys Homemade Meal From Tar Heel Basement Team

Tar Heel Basement Systems is known for continuous community involvement, including cooking a meal monthly at the Ronald McDonald House. Our team members love having the opportunity to help families in need, especially those with a child battling major health issues. One of our loyal customers learned about our involvement with RMH and reached out to our team to see if we’d be interested in partnering with a nonprofit she was passionate about- SECU Family House.

Winston Salem is a major medical hub in North Carolina, therefore, many patients come from great distances to receive treatment. The SECU House opened in 2011 to address the need for affordable lodging for adult patients and their families from out of town. According to their website, “approximately 400 families of inpatients from both hospitals require lodging each night.  In addition, dozens of outpatients with serious conditions and their caregivers need accommodations.”

Volunteers and donations are imperative for the Family House to continue to care for families in the future. Last night, Tar Heel Basement Systems was excited to be able to give back to this incredible cause by providing a warm-cooked meal for the 40+ residents. Our team of volunteers provided the families with a delicious taco bar with rice and beans. After serving and enjoying the meal with the families, some of our team members played in the weekly BINGO tournament. It was a truly great experience and we are thrilled to add SECU Family House to our community partner list and help out in the future.
