Tar Heel Basement Systems Partners with the Ronald McDonald House

Tar Heel Basement Systems spent Wednesday afternoon cooking dinner for the families at the Ronald McDonald House of Winston Salem. Each night a meal is prepared for the parents and siblings that occupy the House and the staff relies heavily on volunteers to make this happen.

Tar Heel Basement Systems was more than happy to lend a helping hand and prepare a delicious spread for the wonderful families at the House. The volunteers included Owner, Pete Burgess; Office Manager, Sydney Blake; Marketing Director, Jackie Hoffman; System Design Specialist, Kent Dunn; and Call Center Manager, Chelsea Krick.  The menu consisted of a homemade Italian meat sauce, pasta, a fresh garden salad and garlic bread.

After 3 hours in the kitchen, the delicious feast was set out for the families to enjoying. All of the Tar Heel Basement Systems’ volunteers were overwhelmed with Joy upon leaving the facility.  Office Manager, Sydney Blake, commented, “this is one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had. It feels so great to help others in need.” It was a unanimous decision that each month, volunteers from the company will spend an evening in the Ronald McDonald House kitchen to prepare a meal for the families.

Director of House Operations, Kathi Greenough, was kind enough to give the Tar Heel team a tour of the incredible facility. Upon completion of the tour Owner, Pete Burgess wanted to contribute more. He signed Tar Heel Basement Systems up to be one of the main sponsors for the Sports A Shirt, Share A Night fundraiser in April 2014. The 35 Tar Heel Basement Systems employees will Join individuals and groups across the state to support the Ronald McDonald Houses of North Carolina by purchasing shirts and wearing them on a designated night.

Additionally, Marketing Director, Jackie Hoffman, has set up a company-wide Pop Tab collection that will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House of Winston Salem at the end of each year. All proceeds from the aluminum tabs help assist in the operating costs of the House.
