Tar Heel Basement Systems Supports ‘Girls on the Run’

“Girls on the Run” is a 12-week youth development program for 3rd-8th grade girls. This positive program intertwines training for a 5k and developing essential life skills and healthy lifestyles. The curriculum focuses on gaining a greater sense of self-awareness and personal achievement; the girls are empowered to believe in themselves, addressing many aspects of their development-physical, emotional, mental, and social well-being.

March 17th marked the 3rd Annual “Luck O’ The Lassie” spring fundraising event for  Girls on the Run of the High Country. The event was held at the Best Cellar/Inn at Ragged Gardens in Blowing Rock and consisted of wine tasting, heavy hors-d’oeuvres, a live auction, and presentation to honor the late Leigh Cooper Wallace.

William and Sydney Blake attended the event on behalf of Tar Heel Basement Systems to show their support for the cause. In addition to a monetary pledge and auction participation, the Blake’s purchased a T-Shirt Sponsorship, allowing each girl that participates in the program to receive a Girls on the Run T-Shirt. Tar Heel Basement Systems is proud to be the sponsor to provide these extraordinary girls with the GOTR shirts!

The event was a great success and will help many more young ladies receive a partial or full discount from the full-cost program fee. It is a valued program and should be offered to as many girls as possible in the community. Tar Heel Basement Systems gives special thanks to Sydney and Will Blake for being at the event and part of this tremendous program.
