Tar Heel Pays it Forward to Second Harvest Food Bank

Tar Heel Basement Systems’ “Pay It Forward” program has been a huge success and becomes a significant part of the company. For the month of February, Tar Heel Basement Systems held a food drive and fundraiser to support Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina.

The “Flourish in February” food drive was aimed to promote the importance of healthy eating in order for one’s development to strive and flourish.

The Tar Heel Basement Systems’ employees were challenged to not only donate foods to those less fortunate but to try to focus on making healthy donations.

In today’s world, we find that the most affordable foods are the least healthy and do not provide many of the vital nutrients for a person the strive.

That being said, our employees certainly were up to the challenge – donating oatmeal, fruits & vegetables, canned fish & chicken, natural juices, nutritious snacks, whole wheat pasta, beans and much more. After a 2-week food drive, our employees donated more than 200 healthy foods and $101 in cash to Second Harvest Food Bank.

The motto of the Tar Heel “Pay It Forward” program is: Have YOU made a difference today? Each and every effort that the Tar Heel team puts forth to help these non-profit organizations are minor contributions to a world full of major problems, but it is something! As Margaret Mead put it, “never believe that a few caring people can’t change the world. For, indeed, that’s all who ever have.”
