Founded in 1981, Feeding America Southwest Virginia is a non-profit organization that has been proudly serving the region they call home. Becoming an affiliate member of Feeding America, the food bank has one common mission: eliminate hunger in the region of Southwest Virginia with a primary function to secure large quantities of food for the hungry. The Abingdon Distribution Center of Feeding America Southwest Virginia relies heavily on food donations from local businesses, farms, government sources, and organizations. For more information, please visit the Feeding America Southwest Virginia website.
57% of families in the Southwest Virginia region choose between food and housing. Redefining the home improvement industry in 2017, Tar Heel Basement Systems has taken on the challenge to change that statistic by holding a food drive for the month of January. Creating healthy homes from the ground up and now in the kitchen, the entire company has a goal to donate 250 non-perishable food items while each department is in competition to see who can donate the most items.
On Monday, February 6th, each department will take their collected pantry items and create a ‘CANstructure.’ Bragging rights will be decided by our customers, family members and referral partners on which department was the most creative by voting through the Tar Heel Basement Systems Facebook page!
Interested in donating to Feeding America Southwest Virginia? Below is a list of the most needed items:

Non-perishable items can be dropped off at Tar Heel Basement Systems, 2910 Griffith Rd. Winston Salem 27103 through Tuesday, February 7th, 2017!
