Will Blake Named as One of the Triad’s 40 Leaders Under Forty

Tar Heel Basement Systems’ Sales Manager, William Blake, was announced today as one of the Triad Business Journal’s “40 Leaders Under Forty”. This award program recognizes the Triad’s outstanding young professionals who are driving success for their employers and empowering their respective communities through innovation and hard work.

When Will was notified about being selected to the 2014 Class of leaders under 40, his response was, “I’m not 40 yet?!” All joking aside, Will was elated to hear the news. In fact, he remarked, “this is one of the greatest honors I’ve received in my professional career.” “It’s great to know that hard work pays off, as work ethic is something I try to teach my children on a daily basis. I was fortunate enough to join a company with tons of potential and I am lucky enough to be in a position within that company to have an impact and contribute to its success.”

Before joining Tar Heel Basement Systems in 2008, Will was a certified home inspector and owned a radon testing company. Tar Heel Basement Systems’ Owner, Pete Burgess, took notice of Will’s hard work and determination shortly after he joined the company, and promoted him to Sales Manager in 2010. Since taking on that role, Will has successfully doubled the company’s annual sales each year and has played a major role in the company’s expansion over the last few years.

Although Will spends most of his time either working or with his family, he finds time to get involved with many local organizations throughout the community whenever possible. He is on the Board of Directors for the Home Builders Association, hosts lunch & learn seminars for real estate agents, home inspectors, engineers and property managers, and remains involved with the local chambers of commerce as much as possible. Additionally, Will volunteers and donates to organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, the Ronald McDonald House, Educator Warehouse, and Santa’s Toy Box, among others.

As a “40 Under Forty” honoree, William will be celebrated at the awards ceremony and reception on Thursday, Feb. 20, at UNCG’s Elliott University Center. He will also be highlighted in a special publication in the February 21 edition of The Business Journal.
