Ray & Greg came out to do the work, man great workers and great guys, personable and reliable, did an awesome job. We were very pleased with Greg and Ray, and Nathan sitting down with us in the beginning . Today, Tar Heel Basement Systems raised and stabilized my front concrete walkway, and it was an excellent contracting experience. The crew of Jess W. And Zach B. were punctual, called in advance with their ETA, and were professional and competent at their craft. They explained what they would be doing, completed the work being careful of my property, and ensured my satisfaction with the finished repair. I highly recommend them for concrete lifting and stabilization.

My family moved into a new house 3 weeks ago. The seller declined to fill out a disclosure, so we’re finding all of its issues through a combination of our general home inspection and contractors. The first call I made to get an opinion on my potential foundation issue might be Tar Heel’s main competitor in the area: Carolina Basement systems. That rep came out, pointed to a couple of cracks in my trim, showed a 1/4” difference in height on different sides of my basement, and insisted I needed 19 helical piers at a cost of $42k. He also tried to sell me 17k worth of waterproofing despite having no known water intrusion issues. I knew I needed a second opinion. I called Tar Heel basement systems next. They sent out Colin Schmid. He sat down with me and asked me what my goals were and he actually listened to what I told him. He did an assessment of my foundation and determined I don’t actually need any work at all. All of the “evidence” cited by the other company was actually a combination of poor workmanship, an imperfect slab pour and cosmetic issues that weren’t at all related to my foundation. He came to that conclusion rather quickly, but stayed for 2 hours to confirm his findings and be sure that what he was telling me was true. Colin could’ve piggybacked the other company’s findings and offered to do the work for less, to sell me something I didn’t need… instead, he acted with integrity. I’m writing this review because I think that needs to be commended. If I ever do need foundation work in the future, Tar Heel Basements systems will be the first company I call, specifically because of Colin Schmid.

Cameron and Mekhi did a great job of installing a crawl drain and sump pump. They arrived on time, worked diligently, and completed the job sooner than was expected. All the while they answered my questions and provided a complete walk (crawl) through at the end. They were courteous and tried very hard to be sure I was pleased with the work. From the time I called to request an initial revie, until the work was completed, this process was professional and convenient. Zack came and crawled around in the very tight crawl space during the initial examination and then scoped the work and cost same day with me. John C and Brian C were the service representatives performing the installation of the membrane and foam board over a two day process. These guys worked so hard and kept me informed on status the whole way. I gave 5 stars because I've had lots of service jobs performed at my home and this team and the work done exceeded my expectations.

Zach Wallace was the inspector that came out to do my yearly maintenance. He was absolutely phenomenal, and reaffirms why I choose Tar Heel basement and am able to have peace of mind and put my trust in this company. He was prompt, transparent, and thorough with his inspection, as well as being patient, friendly, and very professional. He sat down and explained everything he found, what he would recommend, and made me feel that he did have my best interest at heart and that I was being taken care of, which is rare to find now.

I have now been working with John Cotten who was first my Groundworks SALES REP and is.now functioning as my PROJECT MANAGER. He has the second role as a result of the exceptional job he did in the initial role. Needless to say, agreeing to a complete crawlspace encapsulation was not an easy sell. It was a big budget, unplanned project that I resisted doing . But due to the thoroughness of John’s investigation of my issues and complete and detailed plan that addressed every one of my concerns, it was difficult to not move ahead. John knows the business of foundations- the problems and how to resolve them. His communication skills and desire to help his clients save their homes couple to create a dialog that is engaging, informative and even comforting when knowing the end result will be a better home. And after the sale, he is always reachable, responsive and makes me feel he is not only working for Groundworks, but also for me!!

The the professional manner in which every part of the team approached the job at hand was far above my expectations. The Foreman, Shane English introduced his team Evan Boswell and Jaziah Christ to me. They were courteous, hard working, kept the job site clean and organized. They were very timely arriving at job site. No waiting on my part. They ask me several times if I had any questions. And they placed items back where they needed to be. I have several other projects in mind for Tarheel Basement Solutions. I would not hesitate to recommend them for your projects.

We used Tar Heel Basement Systems repair a rotted sill beam on the front of our 100+ year old house. From the time Clint showed up to do our estimate untill the crew left having completed the work it was a great experience. Clint was very thorough and ensured we understood everything before he left. When the crew arrived the Foreman, Evan spoke in terms I as the homeowner could understand. He went over everything again and made sure I knew the scope of work, the time line, etc. Matt and Cody did a great job. They made quick work of getting all the old insulation out of the crawlspace. They all did a great job with the structural work and that did one last walk around and picked up all the old insulation down to the smallest pieces. Very professional crew
