I talked with 3 companies regarding a moisture/mold problem in my basement and was most impressed with Tar Heel Basements. The initial inspector was thorough and knowledgeable, spending more time checking my foundation both inside and out than Tar Heel's competitors. He answered a lot of questions and assisted with the interest free financing. It was an expensive repair that I was very stressed about, but Tar Heel made it as easy as possible. Once the scheduled week arrived, the technicians provided advanced notice of arrival each day, and showed up on time or early. They kept me informed throughout the process and answered numerous questions. They hung plastic to protect my belongings from the dust and advised regarding their findings (such as termites) as they removed walls and insulation. They coordinated with the electricians for installing power to the sump pump and made sure they cleaned up. Tar Heel kept everything clean and even mopped my floor once the work was completed. I'm very appreciative of Nathan Griffin, Zac Mathis, and James Passmore for their hard work, and the care and consideration they provided while working in my home.

On our one year follow-up inspection, items were identified and promptly corrected. Our front porch had settled about a 1/2 inch since it was raised. Jess W and Zach B came out and FULLY explained everything they were going to do. They went about their job immediately and completed it in short order, with NO shortcuts. They explained to me why it had settled in a year's time and what it would take to fix it. They quoted me the price and it was extremely reasonable compared to me having to acquire the materials and tools to do it. It LOOKS GREAT! We could not be more pleased. Thanks so much Jess and Zach!

I expressed concerns about a couple of items not specifically mentioned in the contract and he assured me they would handle it. When the job was complete Juan and I inspected the entire space. Jeffrey Traub came out the day after I called the company. I had a large tree root that appeared to be going under my house and I was concerned it could cause cracks in my slab. He was on time and very thorough in examining my house. While he didn't find any problems he did spot a couple of issues for me to keep my eye on. He also explained I probably had lots of tree roots going under my house and that I just couldn't see them. My neighborhood had been built on land that was heavily wooded. He also explained HOW they fix a SLAB house that has foundation problems. I had envisioned all sorts of nightmare scenarios such as having to move all my belongings out and having my new floors ripped up. Luckily that is NOT how they repair it. Just knowing if that horrible day ever came where I would need their services, that it wouldn't be the nightmare I had thought, put my mind at ease. Jeffrey's explanation of the care they take to preserve my flooring while making repairs was very reassuring. The person who set up the appointment was also very thorough in asking questions to determine what the issue might be and which serviceman to send. Since I don't have a basement or crawl space I never thought I could have foundation problems. I was wrong but luckily I do not have any at this time and thanks to Jeffrey I am knowledgeable about what to look for in order to catch problems in their early stage when it is easiest and cheapest to fix. I would definitely recommend this company and suggest you ask for Jeffrey Traub to come to your house.

Gary Hacker Aiden Bennett Michael Mayes Tore out and replaced the foundation crawlspace boards put in supports and floor jack's. What an amazing job! Personable kept me informed diligently did their work. Ate lunch in the truck let me know when they were on the way and arrived. Asked me if I had questions. Went over the work they did showed me pictures. Explained. They never said anything bad about the one that previously did 30k worth of work. These young men worked hard under the house all day long. My home is like new again. Can I adopt you young men? I commend you for your work ethic and integrity. I'm so grateful. Thank you. Floors are even my cabinets do not have space between them and the ceiliing. Doors are even. Whoop hoo. They replaced joists and made my house solid forever.

Ken, Stephen, and Jael were knowledgable, courteous, personable and professional. The job was completed in 2 and a half days. They hauled away the old liners and left the site spick and span. They kept us fully updated on the process. We also appreciated their attention to detail. They supplied us with a photo of a plumbing issue under the house of which we were unaware. After looking under the house, he provided what was recommended, showing pictures of his findings & explained what the recommendations would do for our home. We contacted Tarheel Basement Systems because, despite the fact that our home in Stokesdale was only 2 years old, it had a musty smell and shockingly we were beginning to see some mold spots on and around vents and in closets, including clothes. They sent out a representative (Harlan) promptly, on a Saturday, who inspected the crawl space, took readings of humidity in the wood and the insulation and overall air, took schematics of the crawl space, and plenty of pictures. He discussed the cost and options with us, taking his time, including financing options. He was extremely thorough, and we agreed on the scope of the work and cost. They initiated the project, with Jacob C and Terrence A arriving at our home early in the morning. Jacob and Terrence were extremely courteous and professional, dropped off some initial documentation, and got to work. I did not have to be home but was able to work from home for the duration of their visit and I can tell you that they worked hard for two days beginning early in the day until late afternoon. Other than leaving for home after Day 1, they did not leave the site and took minimal break time during the entire duration of their stay. Peeking out from time-to-time they took their time cutting the materials to size, and when the project was over recapped with me what they had done. My wife and I are extremely appreciative of Jacob C, Terrence A, Harlan, and the entire team at Tar Heel Basement Systems and would not hesitate to enlist them again!

I recently had a drain and sump pump added to my basement garage. The process was simple and easy from getting them estimate to the work completed. The 3 gentlemen Ken, Stephen and Michael T. called when they were on the way. When they arrived, they introduced themselves and walked me through what was going to be done. The work was done quickly and there was no mess left behind, just a great system that has dried out my basement garage wall and gotten rid of the smell.

I had THBS encapsulate the crawlspace in my Raleigh home this past week. Charles, DJ, and Leonard did an amazing job! They were timely, efficient, clear communicators, and the quality of the work is outstanding. I work from home, had been having significant issues with mold exposure over the past 1.5yrs, and only recently realized what it was. Since last week I am having no further symptoms of mold exposure and my house has rapidly gotten back to normal. 54% humidity in house, and 54% in crawlspace as I type. Used to have to wear a respirator to go in crawlspace before encapsulation. I highly recommend them, and will probably have them level my driveway next! I cannot thank them enough.

After calling several companies and being told it was beyond the scope of what they could handle, we found Tar Heel. If I had only known then what I know now I would have saved myself so much time and stress and called Tar Heel FIRST. Paul, who came out originally, the Structural Engineer Bobbie and Ronnie the Project Manager were able to put a plan together to save our home. They genuinely treated our home like their own. Best company ever. So conscientious. They understand your home is your biggest asset and any problems with it can induce great anxiety. Tyler was my technician at my annual inspection last week. He was on time (on the dot!) and very, very thorough. I appreciate this company that saw me through an extremely trying process in the best of times. At the time of the original basement restoration (2021), I was in the midst of terrible person trouble and they stuck with me until the end of the project. KUDOS to THBS and Tyler! Cannot recommend them enough and frequently do recommend them to anyone who needs this type of work.

First I met with Jeff about Crawlspace encapsulation. He discovered 2 rotten floor Joice. Replacement of those as well as encapsulation was very reasonable. They sent out Andy and Elijah who were very efficient and considerate. The other half of the space was an open basement area. The main front wall was so wet mortar was easing out. Jeff recommended a french drain with a pump. Edward and Jeremy were not only respectful but explained every step . Thank you Tarheel Basement Crew !!

We had some downspouts installed. I’ll admit the first work that was done was apparently done incorrectly by one of the installers because we had worse problems and the work in general is not what I expected. (Based on previous and unrelated work by the same company). However, once it was brought to the company’s attention they responded quickly and stood behind their commitment and returned to handle repairs correctly. So far we are pleased with the repaired work..esthetically. We will need some rain before I can speak to resolution success.

I went into this basement project a little nervous, it seemed like a big commitment to put this amount of trust into Tar Heel Basement Systems. We had a long term problem with water ponding in the crawl space underneath our home anytime it rained. We had multiple people come out to try and diagnose the source of the leak, but none of them were 100% certain. Tar Heel Basement Systems blew me away immediately. The inspector, Dave Brereton, came out and within 15 minutes had identified the root cause as well as a plan to fix it. A few weeks later, the crew came out and completed the job in under two days. The difference is unbelievable. From Dave to the install crew, this company knows their stuff and conducts themselves professionally. A great experience, and I encourage anyone with similar problems to give them a chance. Thank you Dave and crew!
