Case Studies: Trinity, NC – Stabilized Floor System

Friday, December 4th, 2015 By Jaimie Hooker

The support beams in the basement of this historic Trinity, NC home were failing causing the floor system above to become uneven. The floor had begun sagging in the kitchen and become uneven throughout the rest of the home. The homeowner called Tar Heel Basement Systems to evaluate the growing problem.

System Design Specialist, Trevor Lord, completed an entire inspection of the failing support system and designed a permanent solution that would create a stabilized floor for the older home.

Tar Heel Basement Systems installed the IntelliJack System beside of the failing piers. When the IntelliJack System was installed the weight of the floor was transferred from the failing pier to the IntelliJacks. The floor was then stabilized and lifted to the appropriate height by tightening the IntelliJack System. Unlike shimmed concrete piers or columns that will fail overtime, the IntelliJack System is industrial strength galvanized steel columns that are secure to the beams or joists of the floor system. The IntelliJack System can also be adjusted if more lift is needed.
